Mohali to receive Oxygen supply for Rajpura, Mandi Gobindgarh

With an increasing number of COVID patients in the district, there is tremendous pressure on the supply of oxygen cylinders. Coping up with the requirements, Mohali is going to get 400 Oxygen cylinders from Rajpura and Mandi Gobindgarh.

Mohali has 20+ hospitals including both private and district hospitals. While the major private hospitals including Fortis, Max, Ivy and Grecian get their oxygen supply from Inox Air, other hospitals get their supply for assigned vendors in Mohali. The current requirement of Mohali is around 22 metric tonnes but it is projected to increase with an increasing number of patients.

Mohali DC Girish Dayalan issued orders to redirect the use of oxygen cylinders available to the industries, for medical purposes.

DC said that the cylinders shall be collected from the industries along with the issuance of a receipt, and allocated to hospitals in the district by District Nodal Officer for O2/ Civil Surgeon, as per the hospital’s needs.

The order also says that in order to maintain an uninterrupted supply of oxygen to the hospitals for COVID and non-COVID patients, the Air Separation Units (ASUs) are not allowed to fill privately owned cylinders unless authorised by Nodal Officer.
