Chandigarh Lockdown curbs eased

Chandigarh Administration has decided to ease the lockdown curbs as the number of Covid infection cases has come down in the city. As per the order, all non-essential shops will be allowed to open on weekdays from 9 am to 3 pm.

After a meeting on Monday, the decision was taken to allow non-essential shops to open on weekdays.

“It is clarified that salons, barber shops, spas and malls will continue to remain closed. All essential shops like chemists and groceries can remain open till 5 pm. Only non-essential to close at 3:00 pm”, UT Adviser Manoj Parida later clarified in the evening.

As per the order, shops are to be thoroughly sanitised and the staff as well as the customers need to wear masks at all times. All Market Associations need to make sure that masks are available at all shops as well as the entry points of their respective markets.

Gyms, Spas, Cinema Halls, Barber Shops, Salons, Libraries, Swimming Pools and Museums will continue to remain closed.

Private offices, however, will now be allowed to operate on weekdays but advised to ask their employees to work from home, whenever possible.

Weekend curfew is going to continue as usual from Friday, 28 May. The curfew will be in effect from Friday 6 pm to Monday 5 am.

Sports Facilities will be open for national level athletes and those participating in Olympics later this year.
