With the stock of vaccines diminishing and fresh stock not arriving in a timely manner, the vaccination drive of those in the 18-45 age group could not be started today. The health departments of Chandigarh, panchkula and Mohal i confirmed that it is not possible to start the vaccination drive of everyone below 45.
UT Advisor Manoj parida said that the remaining stock of vaccines would be used for the vaccination of the above-45 age group while the people below 45 will have to wait for the vaccines to arrive.
Mohali DC Girish Dayalan also said that the stock of vaccines meant for the 18-45 age group has not arrived at the state level yet, so the vaccination drive cannot be started. He also said that while we are waiting for the vaccines to arrive, online registration for the same can continue unhindered through online portal. “We are leading the state in vaccinations per million population; as of now over 2 lac persons have been vaccinated in the district including health care workers” said Dayalan. He assured that the vaccination of everyone above 45 will continue as before.
In Panchkula as well, vaccination program could ot be started due to the vaccines not reaching on time. Panchkula District Immunization Officer Dr. Meenu Sasan said, “We will receive supplies for the vaccination drive by Sunday evening and vaccination of those below 45 will begin on Monday.”
