Chandigarh ready for any Covid emergency, need more testing: Purohit

The adviser, Banwarlial Purohit reviewed the Covid preparation in Chandigarh in the weekly war room meeting. Although satisfied by overall preparedness for any Covid surge, he stresses on adopting different strategy to impreove the testing rate in Chandigarh.

He praised the health department for the approach towards vaccination  by administering vaccination to the targeted population and stressed the need to improve the vaccination of the 15-18 age group.

Purohit said, “Vaccination is the only way to protect ourselves from the grip of prevailing virus.” He directed the enforcement of strict Covid protocols at public places and insisted that those violating protocols, especially those without masks, be penalised.

Purohit also said that currently administration would not be moving forward with the plan to set up a mini Covid centre in Panjab University hostels.

Updating on the current covid situation in tricity, government officials informed that Mohali has 8,574 active cases, Panchkula has 2,140 active cases and Chandigarh has 9,976 active cases.
