In an unfortunate incident in Patiala, a 10-year old girl died after eating her birthday cake ordered online.
The police said that a case has been registered under Sections 273 and 304-A of the Indian Penal Code following a complaint by girl’s family members alleging that their girl died after eating the online ordered birthday cake.Other family members also fell ill after eating the cake.
The police said that “We are awaiting the viscera report to determine the exact cause of death“.
The police further said that “The case has been registered against the owner of a bakery for causing “death by negligence” and supplying poisonous food.
The family ordered birthday cake to celebrate the birthday of their daughter on March 24. After eating the cake, the health of family members started deteriorating. While the family recovered after receiving preliminary treatment, the daughter was declared brought dead.
The police have not disclosed the name of the bakery to cause undue defamation. Family have sought a thorough inquiry and action on the bakery owner.
The deceased girl’s grandfather briefed the media that the family had ordered the cake at 6 PM or March 24.
He further told the media, “The family started feeling unwell and fell ill at around 11 PM. The two daughters were vomiting. There were five people at home at the time. While younger daughter’s life was saved as she vomited out the cake, the medics were not able to save the other daughter.”
