The trio, without worrying about any repercussions, executed the plan which was organized by the former woman employee of the mall.
Three people were arrested for snatching a whopping amount of Rs. 11 Lakh from a collection agent at Chandigarh Mall on 11 March during evening time. The trio is revealed to be Jasleen Kaur of Sector 36, Rahul of Kajheri and Rupinder Singh of Phase 3B1, Mohali.
The incident took place inside the Elante mall when the two men snatched the cash from Sukhbir Singh, the collection agent. They were spotted by an alert security guard and he caught Rahul on the spot while the other two were arrested afterwards.
Jasleen, as mentioned above is a former employee of Nexus Elante Mall store, Rahul works as a driver and Rupinder works as a contractor with a Mohali- based transport company.
The victim works at the Hitachi Cash Management Company, located in Industrial Area, Phase 7. He had come with his team for collection, when the incident happened. The stealing was well planned, with one of the men following Sukhbir into the lift while he was holding two bags containing Rs. 5.8 Lakh and Rs. 5.34 Lakh each. The other was waiting on the lower floor while Jasleen was in the car, parked outside the mall for their swift escape.
Sukhbir was then blinded by pepper spray and while he was struggling to retrieve the bags from the two, they took his wallet and Aadhaar card along. However, luck was on Sukhbir’s side as he raised the alarm which alerted the alert security guard on time. He got hold of Rahul and after questioning him, the other two were also arrested by the police.
Fortunately, the stolen money was recovered without any of it being lost. Along with that, the car which was used for the orchestrated robbery was also confiscated . The whole plan was plotted by Jasleen. She had knowledge about the cash collection process, due to her experience of working at the mall in the past. The vigilance and swift action of the victim and the security guard made the robbery a failed attempt.
On questioning the three further, it was revealed that the trio surveyed and collected information for two weeks in order to execute the robbery smoothly. The three were arrested at the Industrial Area police station. A case was registered under section 394 which includes robbery, 120-B including criminal conspiracy and 411 which includes receiving stolen property. All these laws fall under the Indian Penal Code.
