Acting tough on property tax defaulters, Municipal Corporation Chandigarh sealed 4 commercial properties in Sector 17, Indsustrial Area Phase 2, Hallo Majra and Sector 26.
Acting on the directions of Municipal Commissioner Anindita Mitra, a team of MC Chandigarh sealed the properties. The properties had a total of ₹15,52,221/- of unpaid property tax.
Among the properties, SCO 107-108, Sector 17B, Chandigarh owed ₹2,29,634/-. SCO-45, Sector 26 owed ₹3,07,051/-, Plot No. – 28/5, Industrial Area, Phase 2 owed ₹7,74,306/- and Plot No. 1842 in Hallo Majra owed ₹2,41,230/-. The mentioned properties did not adhere to property tax payment scheduled as mandated by Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh.
Municipal Corporation Chandigarh stated that multiple notices were sent and repeated opportunities were provided for payment of due property tax. Civic body further warned that strict proceedings would be initiated against property tax defaulters in future as well.
