Semi-lockdown in Chandigarh, tighter restrictions to be introduced

After the much anticipated war-room meeting to decide on the lockdown in Chandigarh, it has been finalised that there will be an increase in restrictions in Chandigarh. Seeing the constant rise in per day COVID cases and the fact that the governments in both our neighbouring states Punjab and Haryana have announced lockdowns, a lockdown in Chandigarh seemed inevitable. Administration has just not officially called it a lockdown but tight restrictions are in place.

The following restrictions will be in place from May 4 to May 11-

  1. All the government offices and banks are asked to work at 50% capacity.
  2. All private offices have been asked to make sure that their staff work from home.
  3. All shops selling non-essential items will remain closed.
  4. Night Curfew to continue from 6 PM to 5 AM. Also, weekend lockdown to be continued as before.

Apart from this, all the public transport will operate with 50% capacity. There is a complete ban on any kind of gathering.
